Joseph is here!
Our new baby Joseph Samuel was born May 1st at 2:44pm! He was 7 lbs, 20 inches.
He gave us quite a scare and had to be revived after he was born - apparently his cord was way too short - about 8 inches long! (as opposed to the 2-3 feet long it's supposed to be) After a long, stalling labor (18 hours) and several heart rate drops, we got to the end and his heartrate plummeted. It was barely beating when he was born, and he wasn't breathing. Fortunately they were able to get him going, but then they had to rush him to the nursery and do all kinds of mean things to him.. Poor little guy! We had to stay an extra day, but we're home now and everything seems to be going well. (Except for the 3 kids with pneumonia, but that's another story.. Jason and Andrew were in the ER at the same hospital as Joseph and I were being discharged - Andrew got a chest xray, IV antibiotics, and breathing treatments - he's had a rough time, too!)
Here's a last belly shot on the way to the hospital
All wired up..
I finally got to see him!
A few hours old
Sad IV!
One day old
With Dad
Micaela took this one!
Micaela was the only one well enough to visit.
Finally home - three days old, and getting jaundiced.. :)
We love our tough little guy and we're so grateful that he's okay and home with us!
